Description of Committee
For ALL committees for the 2024-25 School Year, volunteers are needed. We are looking for people to help run these next school year, or there’s a chance the committee might NOT happen, including Hot Lunch and Book Fair.

Coordinate program that encourages students to read by providing free books through an incentive program and also providing a free book to all students on their birthdays.
Coordinate a fundraiser through Art To Remember to benefit the PTA (Parent Teacher Association) and Armstrong Specials Teachers. Promote and advertise the event.
Coordinate Armstrong PTAs donation for the Annual STC (Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs) Scholarship Auction. Solicit donations from area businesses and/or purchase basket items. Create baskets on behalf of Armstrong School within budget. Secure volunteers to work the night of the auction and coordinate RSVP for attendees.
Schedule Book Fair with Scholastic, the school, and PTA. Run book fair on scheduled date(s). There can be up to two Book Fairs a year. Coordinate volunteers and possibly serve as volunteer. Promote and advertise the event.
Set up and help promote fundraisers at local restaurants throughout the school year.
Everyone Welcome at Armstrong
Plan and execute events as community get together and possibly fundraiser that welcome Armstrong students and families, possibly including Fun Fair or Fest, Goodies with Grown Ups, Movie Night, Dance, etc. Promote and advertise the event.
Work with school to coordinate events and help solicit volunteers for Field Day.
Plan and execute fundraising events as needed throughout the year, possibly including Box Tops, Affy Tapple, Lou Malnati’s frozen pizza coupons fundraiser, etc. Promote and advertise the events.
Work with hot lunch vendor or communicate and negotiate with local food vendors for hot lunch deliveries and collect and manage orders. Oversee distribution of lunches, procure volunteers, report progress at monthly PTA meetings. Promote and advertise the event.
Plan and execute events for kindergarten students working with the school. Promote and advertise the event.
Schedule at least one event to make a difference in people’s lives that need help in our community. (i.e. schedule and coordinate a food drive for a week.) Promote and advertise the event.
Works with the PTA Treasurer to recruit and collect dues from members. Maintains membership list. Promote and advertise so that members join.
Coordinate Fall and Spring Picture Day for Armstrong Students. Attend Lifetouch District Meeting to pick up materials at the beginning of the year. Distribute order forms, organize picture cards, secure volunteers and be the liaison between the school and the photography company for both Fall Pictures, Fall Retakes, and Spring Photos. Promote and advertise the events.
Work with 6th grade teachers for end of year celebration for 6th grade students.
Utilize various forms of social media (website, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) to provide general information and details about upcoming events, updates, and reminders for the PTA, school, and district.
Coordinate with vendor for design and apparel choices and fees. Define a price point to sell spirt wear. Collect money from students (if not all online) and distribute items when they come in. Promote and advertise each sale.
Coordinate dinner for staff members during the Parent/Teacher Conference in November. During Teacher Week in May, coordinate a meal and possibly other ways to show appreciation. Recognize staff in other ways throughout the year, like treat bags or providing snacks.
STC (Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs) Scholarship
Distribute and collect scholarship forms from Armstrong students. Submit completed applications to the district office. Review and score scholarship applications as assigned by the district.
Identify and collaborate with a vendor to produce yearbook. Take or collect pictures from others throughout the school year from various events. Promote and advertise the sale of the yearbook.
