Back to School Information and Upcoming Dates
It is hard to believe the new school year is just around the corner! We hope you have been enjoying the summer months with your family. Armstrong has been a busy place during the past few weeks, with the completion of our new playground equipment, thanks to the Hoffman Estates Park District, and new security doors are being installed inside the entryway. Here are a few important dates to add to your calendar:
Armstrong Office Hours
Armstrong’s main office will reopen on August 3rd from 8:00am-4:00pm. If you have registration documents, please drop off paperwork as soon as possible so we are able to place your child in a classroom before Information Day on August 8th. Please note that our office will be closed on August 15th to allow all staff to participate in a professional development opportunity to better serve our students. The office will reopen on August 16th. Please call the office if you have questions at 847-357-6700.
Wednesday, August 8 – Information Day
Join the Armstrong office staff and PTA (Parent Teacher Association) in the gym from 9:00-11:00am or 6:00-8:00pm to finalize registration, pick up your child’s class placement letter, order hot lunch, submit milk orders, and sign up for fall conferences. If you are unable to come, we will mail your child’s class placement letter to your home address.
Thursday, August 16 – Back to School Night
Join us for Back to School Night from 5:00-6:45pm. Catch up with your friends, hear about the curriculum, and meet the Armstrong staff. Students should bring their school supplies to this event. If you are unable to attend, students are also welcome to bring supplies with them on the first day of school.
Monday, August 20 – First Day of School for 1st – 6th Grade Students
The first bell rings at 8:25am, so plan to arrive between 8:20 and 8:25. Students will line up on the blacktop near the basketball court with their teacher, who will be holding a sign. There will be other staff members holding a balloon so students can easily find someone to help. After the first day of school, students will enter the front doors and line up outside their classroom. Dismissal will be at 3:00pm.
Monday, August 27 – First day of School for Kindergarten Students
All kindergarten students have the same arrival and dismissal time as the 1st-6th grade students. Students will line up outside the front doors on the first day to meet their teacher and walk in together. After the first day, students will enter the front doors and line up outside their classroom.
